The new “green” ad label for search text ads is now rolling out across the globe.
Over the past few weeks, things were not the same when you searched for something in Google. Instead of the good old solid green background on ads, now a green outline would wrap the text instead.
This new format is already rolled out and has been prominent for at least the last few days. Turns out, that it’s official and Google has indeed confirmed this.
“We routinely test potential improvements to the look and feel of our search results page. After experimenting with a new search ad label with a green outline, we’ve decided to roll it out. The new ad label is more legible and continues to make our results page easier to read for our users with clear indication of our ad labeling,“ said Google in a statement.
Google has been playing around with ad labelling for as long as ads have been rolled out. In particular, this new change somewhat echos what Bing Ads has been doing now for quite a while, although Microsoft has opted for no outline at all, and just states the text “Ad” before an advert.
